I have just aquired an old all wood Fierball, 2316. Is the forestay supossed to be wire? Can any help

Hi Duncan

most people use either:

Wire - connected to some elastic at the bottom to allow for raking the mast back.

Rope - with some elastic on the inside for 30cm or so.

i prefer the rope system but either works well.

Hi Tim,

Thanks for that. I guess rope of 3-4mm is suitable as the jib has a plastic clip to attach it to the forestay.
