UKGlobal is the Association's preferred insurance provider whose discounted rates are available to UKFA members. UKGlobal’s craft insurance solutions are designed to provide members of the UK Fireball Association with the most appropriate cover and highly competitive premiums, negotiated on your behalf.

Member Craft Insurance Scheme 2024 - 25

The 2024-25 terms have been negotiated on behalf of the UKFA. 

These are the main points to note:

Haven Knox-Johnston (HKJ) are applying a premium rate increase of 5% this year.  The standard premium rate increases being applied by HKJ are 10%, so we are pleased that we have been able to limit the increase to 5%.  This is the first rating increase on the scheme in five years.  The rating increase reflects the rising claims costs, i.e., the cost of parts, labour and supply. 

• The policy fee charged by HKJ will remain at £5, despite the standard policy fee levied on HKJ’s small craft policies being £15.
• The Marine Legal Expenses premium will remain at £16.80, inclusive of Insurance Premium Tax at 12%.
• The starter and multi-craft discounts will remain at 10%.
•  The Loyalty benefit will continue to apply which will reduce the policy excess as applicable.

 Changes to the policy cover:

Personal Effects cover – this will continue to be on a “new for old” basis up to 3 years old, subject to a maximum amount payable of £350.  The change in cover is that once an item is over 3 years old, there will be a deduction of 50% from the settlement figure.

Trailers – the excess applied to trailer claims is to be reduced to £100.

All other terms and conditions remain unaltered.

 HKJ has undertaken a market exercise to assess the competitiveness of the scheme premiums and are pleased to advise that the scheme does remain competitive.  Online providers may offer a cheaper premium, but the cover is not necessarily comparable, plus all aspects of the quotation stage, then policy and claims management would be conducted online. 

It's well worth noting that the 10% multi-craft discount applies to other boats, not just Fireballs.
