News / Gul UK Nationals Overall

We had a brilliant time at RTYC for our Nationals.  The event was smoothly run, the club was super-friendly, there was a lot of socialising and the racing was tight!

Congratulations to Tom Gillard and Andy Thompson for winning the event and to our runners up, DJ Edwards & Vyv Townend and Dave Hall & Paul Constable, who were tied on points. It was great to see the younger team of Arran Holman & Mani (William) Heathcote snapping at their heels and winning the last race of the event.

Click the links below to read the reports that were sent to Y&Y (thanks Adam Whitehouse and Dave Hall for writing them) - the last one includes the overall results. Note, there was no racing on day 1 as it was too windy! There are also a load of photos from the prizegiving and a few extras on the Fireball Google Drive.

It was great to see a lot of people wearing the event T-shirts and sweatshirts and there were lots of compliments on how  good they looked with Hannah Edge's design on. It's not too late to order yours. If you'd like to purchase a branded item of clothing that's not on the Nationals shop site, but is in the 60th Anniversary section, please let Richard Botting know (contact details on the Fireball website) and we'll see if we can add more items to the shop.

One of the spot prizes at the Nationals was donated by Hannah - it was a personalised sailing portrait and was won by Bryan & Will Seargent. If you fancy one for yourself or as a gift, take a look at Hannah's Etsy page.

Gul has yet again been an amazing sponsor of the Fireball fleet! Every Nationals competitor received a free pair of sailing gloves. Representatives from Gul were at the club every day, showing off the new range of kit and also listening to feeback from the sailors on what is important to us. They even came round the dinghy park chatting to us and went out on the water on what was the wettest day of the event! We can't thank Gul enough for the support they've given us.

We were also lucky to have spot prizes donated to us by North Sails and P&B

Please support our sponsors by considering buying from them next time you need new kit/sails.
