2018 Gul Golden Dolphin Series - final results.

As Staunton Harold's open meeting has been cancelled, the Gul Golden Dolphin series results stand as they were after the HISC meeting (four rounds to count and therefore no discard).

Congratulations go to Kevin Hope & Russell Thorne (pictured) who placed first overall! They are worthy and thoroughly deserving winners being one of the few teams to actually compete at all four meetings.

The first three finishers in each fleet are:

Gold (and overall)
1st Kevin Hope & Russell Thorne
2nd Tom Gillard & Geoff Edwards
3rd DJ Edwards & Vyv Townend

Silver
1st Isaac Marsh & Oliver Davenport
2nd Steve Goacher & Tom Goacher
3rd = Bryan Sargeant & Will Sargeant
3rd = Nick Hurst & Jake Elsbury

Bronze
1st Barry Smith & Ricky Spring
2nd Maia Walsh & Peter Bentley
3rd Chris Turner & John Piatt / Jono Loe

Well done to everyone!

We intend to present the Golden Dolphin Trophy at the 2019 Dinghy Show (2nd/3rd March) along with keepsake engraved tumblers for 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall as well as for the winning Silver and Bronze fleet teams.

In point of fact, the trophy will be the Golden Dolphin Trophy v.2 as the original remains temporarily mislaid (it has a habit of going AWOL and then resurfacing after a few years).

As you will recall, as part of their two-year event sponsorship, Gul very kindly donated a weekend away for two at the Watergate Bay Hotel, Newquay. In addition to two nights B&B the lucky pair will have a surf lesson and enjoy a dinner at the Beach Hut! All Golden Dolphin series entrants' names will go into a hat (multiple entries for those who sailed in more than one meeting) and the draw will be made at the Dinghy Show - another good reason for making the trip to Ally Pally!

For those who were placed in the top three positions overall in the Silver and Bronze fleets you have won some fantastic Gul products! Vouchers will be on their way to you shortly but, so you can start browsing the Gul website, prizes are:

1st in both fleets : Helm and crew both win a Code Zero wetsuit (any wetsuit in the Code Zero range)
2nd in both fleets : Helm and crew win a Code Zero buoyancy aid
3rd in both fleets : Helm and crew both win a Gamma spraytop (any Gamma-badged spraytop)

We were unable to separate the two teams finishing third in the Silver fleet but Gul came to the rescue and very generously offered to award Gamma spraytops to both!

A high bar has been set in all respects for the 2019 Gul Golden Dolphin series. Make sure you put the dates in your diaries!
