News / Glyn Charles Pursuit Race

Eight Fireballs enjoyed great conditions for the Glyn Charles Pursuit Race at Hayling Island Sailing Club.  With the wind up to 20 knots it was always going to be a great day for Fireballing. 140 boats set out for the race although not all managed to make the finish! The course was around the cans in Chichester Harbour.

Matt Findlay and Richard Anderton were top Fireball on the day but they couldn't quite hold on to the top spot and were passed by the 29er of James Peters and Dicken Maclean. Behind the rest of the fleet enjoyed a good fight particularly early on, Becky Priest and Tim Saunders claimed fourth after a race long tussle with Andy Pearce and Adam Broughton who finished 5th.

As always the event was generously supported on the water and off with a great selection on prizes for sailors from throughout the fleet. Proceeds raised from the entry are donated to the John Merricks Trust.
