It's only a week to go until the 21st 150 minute Starcross Steamer pursuit race, taking place on the tidal waters of the River Exe, down on the South Devon coast. with the entry limit of 110 boats having already been achieved.
Our Race Officer John Donovan and everyone at Starcross Yacht Club is very much looking forward to the race and to welcoming you and all visiting sailors to our club, some of whom will have experienced the wild conditions of last years Steamer - memories indeed.
The club will be open from around 8am, with our much respected and reputed Galley Committee on hand to provide a welcoming cup of tea or coffee and a bacon butty or even two. Our race officials will be on hand to advise visiting sailors as to parking arrangements for the day and will do their best to limit congestion on the day and so please be guided by them. The first start is programmed for 11am with the briefing scheduled for 10.15am in the clubhouse.
Race documents are still available to download from the club website and which can be found here.
Fotoboat's Mike Rice will be attending the race as the official race photographer and will undoubtedly be taking some great shots on and of the water.
Should anyone wish to drop off their boat on the Saturday afternoon, the club will be open with members available to direct you but should you arrive earlier, you can also ring me on 01626 890496 and I can meet you down at the club within ten minutes to let you in.
The conditions are currently looking much tamer than last year and so fingers crossed, the wind and weather will oblige and assist us in laying on another cracking Starcross Steamer, with everyone enjoying a great days racing and sailing.
