Jack Chippendale, builder of many of the original Fireballs has passed away at the age of 87. His influence and huge contribution to the industry was recognised by the award of an MBE in the 2010 Queen’s Birthday Honours.
During his 70-year career, he once estimated that he built more than 4,000 boats. This incredible record included more than 30 world and national sailing championships achieved by his boats and even directly to recent Olympic sailing successes.
Fireball no.6 orginally built by Jack will be on Display at this weekends (3rd & 4th March) RYA Dinghy Show on the Fireball Class Association Stand.
