News / Introducing the Draycote Dash!

Mid November? RUBBISH! Clocks will have gone back, some of your more annoying friends will have facetwitted you that they have already finished their Christmas shopping, and you’ve even given up on trying to set fire to that damp and rotten dinghy* that just refused to cooperate at your club’s bonfire night, despite the several gallons of unleaded siphoned out of your committee boat to persuade it otherwise. Nope, that’s it…nothing to look forward to until next summer.

But wait! What’s this? Two days of action packed racing at one of the country’s premier inland venues? 700 acres of usually windy water, set in a fantastic country park setting, no more than three hours drive from almost anywhere? An opportunity to finally test your RabFace Mountain BergWear sleeping bag (certified to -123 degrees)? Course to suit both asymmetric and traditional classes? Average lap racing, plus a pursuit race, so no matter what you sail you’ll be able to enjoy close racing?

Yes indeedy! The Draycote Dash is here to save you from your winter gloom. 20-21 November 2010. Our fully heated lake* and the legendary tropical Midlands climate* will be almost as warm as the welcome you’ll receive at this superb club, and with our guest caterer Darryl doing another one of his legendary and plentiful curries, we’d all best hope it’s very breezy on Sunday! And what better way to wash down a bucket of curry, than with a fine selection of beers and lagers served from our late bar (being a Midlands club, both Northern and Southern heads can of course be catered for!)

So you know what to do. Dig out that 5mm steamer, and amaze yourself how it has “shrunk” over the summer. Go and “borrow” a traffic cone* and finally get round to repairing your drysuit neck seal. Quickly revarnish that Enterprise, and get yourself onto , to check out the NOR and full details, and get yourself registered online* for what promises to be the very best way to beat the winter blues!

* Disclaimer:

Draycote Water Sailing Club cannot be held accountable for the operation or otherwise of the entirely fictitious lake heating system, or local changes in the tropical microclimate on the day of the event. We also do not condone the burning of any class of dinghy or the theft of any Highways Agency Property. We would, however, really, really like you to pre-register as soon as possible so we have an idea of numbers and can lay on the appropriate amount of food, beer and rescue. Thank you!
