The committee's rule change proposals to (a) permit twin spinnaker poles to be carried and (b) allow both crew and helm to wear trapeze harnesses have been considered by Fireball International (FI).
The FI Council has requested more information on twin poles and attendant systems. UKFA has until the European Championship in August to provide additional detail whereupon a decision will then be taken by Council on whether or not to approach World Sailing for a rule change.
The proposal regarding dual harnesses was withdrawn from consideration when it became apparent that World Sailing were highly unlikely to approve it should it be put forward (all to do with clothing/harness weight restrictions).
This is disappointing news all round and definitely not what those who were hoping to adopt twin poles for the start of the 2017 season wanted to hear. However, all is not lost and the debate is still alive for another six months.
