A very windy Chew Valley open kicked off on Saturday Lunchtime, winds of 30mph with gusts of 48mph recorded, rain squalls and big waves (yes inland) set the mood for the day. After some deliberation Race Officer Pete Sherwin decided to attempt 3 races back to back. Whilst there were a number of sensible soles who, despite rigging their boats, decided that conditions were too great a week before the Nationals, the rest launched or at least tried to. Saturday saw a reducing number of finishers per race and a couple of boats had to retire to fix bits! Sunday was lighter at first but was almost as windy as Sunday by the end of the last race. Dave Wade and Ben McGrane were dominant with 4 bullets, with Roger Gilbert/Richard Wagstaff and Matt Findlay/Richard Anderton pushing them hard. Everyone capsized at least once. Some great prizes from Force 4 Chandlery and smiles all round.
