2012 Olympic medallist racing and sharing his story at the first Flyer
With intense training schedules and a world-wide regatta calendar it is not often you get to race against Olympians. On 14th & 15th December Luke Patience will be trading 470 for Fireball as he joins the generous smattering of National and World-champions who favour the GJW Direct Sailjuice Winter Series for their winter racing.
Luke, now campaigning for the 2016 Rio Olympics with 3-time Olympian Joe Glanfield, will be guest speaker at SailRacer's End of Season Party on Saturday evening. Having been racing during the day he will have plenty to offer - from the days sailing to his Olympic campaigning. Luke's infectious enthusiasm for competing is sure to inspire both on and off the water throughout the weekend.
"I'm really excited to race for the weekend." Enthuses 2012 silver-medallist Luke. "It's a new boat, so a new experience with someone new! It's nice to take a moment away from the heaviness of the Olympic sailing, yet do something that will bring in new perspectives. I love this sport, if I'm on the water I'm a happy man."
All boats will be fitted with SailRacer's GPS trackers throughout the weekend so the live action can be followed via the internet and analysed after racing. In addition to Luke's talk after the meal, the winner of the 2013 GJW Direct Venue of the Year Award will also be announced. With 2 days of sailing and a party on Saturday night, stay local and take advantage of the SailRacer party package as a top-up on the entry fee.
