International Week & Fireball World Championships

New Sails, New Shoes & New watches!
North Sails, Dubarry & Tissot!
In addition to the title sponsorship of the Fireball International Week and Fireball Worlds by Dubarry Shoes, Fáilte Ireland, Interreg IVA, The Clarion House Hotel, The Glass House, Malin Waters, and the ISA, two other sponsors made donations to the regatta - North Sails and Tissot watches.
Dubarry provided draw prizes in the form of hats and socks on race nights of the two week regatta and a draw of trolley tag numbers was made on each race night for a limited draw for Dubarry Shoes, a set of Tissot Watches and a suit of North Sails. Only eight numbers went into the latter draw and Jonathan Evans and Aidan Caulfield (IRL 14748) won the North sails as the first tag number out of the draw. Commenting when his tag number was originally drawn, on the first night of International Week, Jonathan commented that he was in need of a new suit of sails............in a twist of the advice "beware of what you wish for you might just get it" he was rewarded with what he needed and spent the early part of the Saturday after prize-giving seeing how his Fireball suited the new set of threads.
Irish Fireball patriarch, Louis Smyth and crew, Irish Fireball Class Chairman, Cormac Bradley were the winners of a pair of Dubarry Lahinch Aquasport Shoes. A second set of the same shoes was won by John Manson & Ivan Fraser (SHE15022).
The Tissot watches were won by Neil Colin & Margaret Casey (IRL 14775).
Events such as the Fireball Worlds and International Week, like other major sailing events, are completely dependent on volunteers and sponsors and in Sligo Yacht Club and the various sponsors listed here we enjoyed great support for the two week regatta.
