Crews returning from the Europeans will be welcome to bring their boats straight to HISC in advance of 11 August. Please let Chris Turner (email@example.com) know if you plan to do so.
For those who won't have had enough sailing, Chichester Harbour Race Week (better known as Fed Week) starts on Monday 15th August. The home Fireballs will be out in numbers as usual.
There is plentiful accommodation on Hayling Island and in the surrounding area. Please contact the club on 023 9246 3768023 9246 3768 for details and prices of rooms at HISC (these can be booked on-line; bookings have already been made by some competitors so don't delay!) and also for a list of local guest houses etc. There is a limited number of berhs available for camper vans on site - again contact the club or book on-line. A PDF list of local accommodation is also available from Chris - please request via the e-mail address above.
For those who haven't sailed at HISC, the club has an on-site chandlery, snack bar, restaurant and bar. There is ample car parking for competitors on site and plenty of berthing for boats (which will be left on their road bases overnight so no need to take them off site).
Update 9 July:
With just two weeks to go before the 'Late' entry fee for the Nationals expires and we enter the run-up to the event, now is the timeto sort out some basic boat checks and admin!
Firstly, two reminders:
1. Both helm and crew must be a member of UKFA (or the home NCA for non-UK entries). If you haven't yet applied for UKFA membership or haven't renewed your subscription (why haven't you? It's July for goodness sake!) please do so NOW! At past Nationals too much time has been spent chasing people around the dinghy park for subs - please help the event organisers by sorting out your UKFA membership well in advance of August 11. Full membership is £20, juniors (under 21 years old - you lucky people) £10 and the Fireball International boat fee is £6. Please see the UKFA website for payment details:
2. Bring your boat's certificate. You will need it! It will be checked by HISC at registration and by a measurer. If you haven't got one please sort one out with Ian Castle NOW! Again, go to the UKFA website for contact details.
On to measurement checks:
We will be checking all boats for:
Black bands on mast and boom
2016 UKFA / NCA sticker on the boat
You are permitted to nominate two each of mainsails, jibs and spinnakers. They must be measured and the measurers reference number will be recorded for each sail. If for some reason you presently have unmeasured sails please do not assume you can turn up at Hayling on the day and find a measurer to legalise them - time will be short! Note your sails must have bear the correct sail numbers.
Finally, random measurement checks may be made on any boat at any time.
See you on 11 August!
Please keep checking this page as further information will posted in due course. In the meantime if you have any queries please contact Chris Turner.
