The boat owner should always be a UKFA member if his/her boat is competing in any event.

The counterpart to the annual boat plaque - which is covered by the annual UKFA membership fee - should be stuck to the boat's certificate in the space provided and the plaque itself stuck to the forward face of the aft tank.  If these actions are not undertaken the boat is not a fully-compliant Fireball and is merely a 16' 2" scow!

In addition to the boat owner requiring to be a member, full or Junior membership of UKFA is required for both helm and crew for some events.

National Championship - Both helm and crew must be members of UKFA.  If neither helm nor crew is the boat owner then the boat owner must also be a member of UKFA

Inland Championship - Both helm and crew must be members of UKFA.  If neither helm nor crew is the boat owner then the boat owner must also be a member of UKFA

Golden Dolphin events - Both helm and crew must be members of UKFA*.  If neither helm nor crew is the boat owner then the boat owner must also be a member of UKFA

Open meetings not badged Golden Dolphin - The boat owner must be a member of UKFA

Club events  - The boat owner must be a member of UKFA

* A variation to this rule exists for fully paid-up members of a club that is hosting a Golden Dolphin open meeting.  In those cases, the provision for 'Open meetings not badged Golden Dolphin' will apply i.e. only the boat owner must be a member of UKFA.  For the avoidance of doubt, any competitors benefiting from this variation must comply with the full Golden Dolphin membership requirements if they compete in Golden Dolphin events that are hosted by other clubs.
