SHSC Fireball Open 2015
Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th March

NOTICE OF RACE

1 	RULES
1.1 	The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.

2	ADVERTISING
2.1	Advertising shall comply with ISAF Regulation 20 and the relevant rules of the Class Association.

3	ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1	The regatta is open to all boats of the Fireball class.	
3.2	Eligible boats may enter by completing an entry form on the day and paying the entry fee. 
3.3	All boats shall be washed and declared killer shrimp free on entry to the site.

4	FEES
4.1	The entry fee is 25 or 35 to include Saturday night social with meal.
				
5	SCHEDULE
5.1	Registration will be from 0900 28th March 2015 in the clubhouse. Briefing at approx 1100.

5.2	Target is for 7 races to be sailed over the weekend. 
5.3	The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race on Saturday is not before 12pm. The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race on Sunday is not before 1030.

6	MEASUREMENTS
6.1	Boats competing in the Fireball Open shall have a valid measurement certificate.

7	SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing instructions will be available at the registration desk

8	THE COURSES
8.1	The courses to be sailed will use the club marks a plan of which will be available
with the sailing instructions.

9	SCORING
9.1	1 race is required to be completed to constitute a series.

9.2	When 4 or more races have been completed, a boat?s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

10	RADIO COMMUNICATION
A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.

11	PRIZES
	Prizes will be given to the first three boats in each fleet and additional spot prizes may be awarded.

12	RISK STATEMENT 
Rule 4 of the Racing Rules of Sailing states: ?The responsibility for a boat?s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone.? 
Sailing is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore involves an element of risk. By taking part in the event, each competitor agrees and acknowledges that: 

a) They are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and accept responsibility for the exposure of themselves, their crew and their boat to such inherent risk whilst taking part in the event; 

b) They are responsible for the safety of themselves, their crew, their boat and their other property whether afloat or ashore; 

c) They accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by their own actions or omissions; 

d) Their boat is in good order, equipped to sail in the event and they are fit to participate; 

e) The provision of a race management team, patrol boats, umpires and other officials and volunteers by the organiser does not relieve them of their own responsibilities; 

f) The provision of patrol boat cover is limited to such assistance, particularly in extreme weather conditions, as can be practically provided in the circumstances.
 
13	INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of 2,000,000 per event or the equivalent.
